Give a Gift that Changes Lives: Operation Christmas Child 2017

Since I was a very young child, I have had a very strong pull towards philanthropy and giving back to our community and our world.  People often suffer in silence and the holidays can cause stress and despair as food insecurity is more pronounced when we are surrounded by abundance.  As a family, we give to local food banks and sponsor two children through two different international sponsorship programs year round.  We also love Christmas and try to make it a special time for as many people as we can.

I have posted about the shoebox collection program run by Samaritans Purse, in the past. The collection date for shoeboxes has passed in my area and time has slipped away so fast that I missed it. It is not too late to give a gift of joy, donations can be sent through the online shoebox link. Your monetary donation will let people at Team Hope, pack and deliver a shoebox on your behalf. The links will be below the video.

Team Hope Online Shoebox minimum donation is $18 US

Team Hope Christmas Catalogue gifts range from $6 to thousands of dollars and include items like seeds, livestock, clean water solutions, and sports equipment.

Please don't believe that I am saying any of this for a pat on the back.  This is my genuine plea for people to pause, look around your community for chances to help, and change Christmas back to a season of giving.  If you aren't able to give to this charity, I encourage you to check out charities local to your community to make Christmas a little more merry for families that just might be your neighbours in need.
