Food Review: Spotlight on JELL-O Puddings and Mousse Temptations

Would it be too dramatic to say that JELL-O No Sugar Added and low calorie snacks saved my sanity? When a self-proclaimed sugar addict has to lower sugar intake for health reasons, things tend to get a little crazy.  My sugarless journey started 6 years ago.  After a doctor's check-up the verdict was out.  I was pre-diabetic and suffering various health problems.  My next trip was to see a Dietitian.  She helped me find a menu plan that worked for me, but would also give the much needed healthy changes and outcomes.  I was working full-time and making a major life change towards healthy eating. The JELL-O No Sugar Added puddings helped me make the transition when I felt like I was missing the old eating habits.  A sweet tooth is really hard to kick.

My earliest memories of Sunday dessert were of my mom's trifle made with JELL-O pineapple jelly powder and JELL-O instant vanilla pudding.  This was one of my childhood comfort foods.  When faced with the need for change I turned to the No Sugar Added Pudding snack packs sold in the refrigerator section of my grocery store, because they were pre-made and easy to pack in lunches. The Chocolate flavoured snacks are my favourite, but would eat any flavour available in the midst of a snack attack. I also buy the JELL-O No Sugar Added pudding mixes and jelly powders to experiment with making various desserts. I mix the pudding powders with skim milk to make the treat even lower in fat and calories.  To have a brand that I already loved and was familiar with offer healthier options, made my new life transition easier. Even though the No Sugar Added desserts are healthier options, they are still DESSERT. I rearrange my dietary intake to accommodate my treats. For example, drop one of my Carb options to allow for the carbs in the pudding.

#Metime Courtesy of @Jell_OMousse Temptations

A few weeks ago I had a friendly tweet asking if I needed help with #metime. I replied to the tweet and realized it was an offer of some complementary JELL-O Mousse Temptations.  This product was new to me so I skipped over to GOOGLE and started a search. I found out that Mousse Temptations are made by KRAFT Canada, available in the refrigerator aisle of grocery stores, and come in a variety of flavours.  Best news of all they are only 60 calories per cup!  When I received my coupons in the mail I marched over to my nearest grocery store. *GASP* they didn't sell the Temptations, and neither did the next store.  I was a little disappointed at the limited availability.  A few days later I went to my local Wal-Mart and did a little happy dance when I found Mousse Temptations in the dairy aisle.  They were available in Chocolate Indulgence and Creme Caramel, which was handy because I had two coupons and I don't do well with choices.  Now that I know where to find the Temptations they will be a regular treat choice for me.  There is nothing worse than falling in love with something but never being able to find it again.

I wanted to know more about this new snack so I hopped over to Kraftbrands.com and found out they also offer Temptations in Dark Chocolate and just released a Mint Chocolate flavour. Should I hold my breath till they bring it to Canada?

This love story continues with me being contacted by the friendly people at Edelman, asking if I would like to share the love by passing coupons on to 5 of my tweeps.  I was glad to do this on behalf of the April 4 to May 11 JELL-O Mousse Temptations promotion.  As much as I love my chocolate and my dessert I do still know how to share.

I was randomly chosen to receive JELL-O Mousse Temptations through involvement in the online community of Twitter. Images borrowed from KRAFT Canada for sole purpose of promoting JELL-O & JELL-O Mousse Temptations. This post is not meant to take the place of a dietitian's advice.
